In the operation carried out by the Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams on a truck that came to the Kapıkule Customs Gate to enter Turkey, smuggled electronic cigarettes and parts worth 48 million lira were seized.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, as a result of the intelligence studies carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams, the truck that came to the Kapıkule Customs Area to enter Turkey was tracked and sent for x-ray scanning. Some time after the dispatch, the teams, who noticed the maneuver of the vehicle to enter the dormitory directly instead of entering the x-ray line, intervened in the vehicle. It was determined that there were suspicious densities in the cargo in the scan images of the truck, which was declared to be carrying roll paper type goods. Thereupon, the vehicle was taken to the search hangar, where it was subjected to a detailed search.

As a result of the control, 110 electronic cigarettes, 640 electronic cigarette heads, 5 electronic cigarette liquids and 600 mobile phone screens were seized, hidden among the legal load in the vehicle. It was determined that the smuggled goods caught by the conservation teams were worth 2 million 900 thousand liras.

As a result of the successful operation carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams, the entry of large amounts of smuggled goods into Turkey was prevented and a major blow was dealt to tobacco and tobacco products smugglers.

While the seized smuggled goods were confiscated by the Customs Enforcement teams, the investigation into the incident continues before the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
