Izmir Metropolitan Municipality made a statement on the cancellation of the process of increasing the number of S plates by 400 in line with the need for shuttle vehicles in Izmir. In the statement, “As the municipality, we will not victimize any of our citizens. On the one hand, we are trying to fulfill our duty to ensure that the necessary measures are taken for the implementation of judicial decisions, and on the other hand, to provide a balance in order to protect the rights of the citizens.
The decision taken by UKOME for the 2030 S license plate allocation needed within the scope of the 400 Izmir Transportation Plan. After the Izmir Chamber of Bus Drivers and Service Vehicles Craftsmen was canceled due to an application to the judiciary, a statement was made from the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality on the subject. In the statement, it was stated that the actions to be taken due to the decision to cancel the transaction subject to the lawsuit will be evaluated at the UKOME general assembly.
“We will not harm any of our citizens”
In the statement, which emphasized that the plate issuance process was canceled with a court decision due to the objection to the open tender procedure, the statement said, “As the municipality, we will not victimize any of our citizens. Although our institution has been the victim of an unprecedented process, it is our fundamental duty to protect the rights of citizens in line with legal regulations. On the one hand, we are trying to fulfill our duty to ensure that the necessary measures are taken for the implementation of judicial decisions, and on the other hand, to provide a balance in order not to victimize the citizens. However, while fulfilling this duty, we think that other administrative structures should also contribute to the solution by approaching the issue with the same sensitivity as we do. In this direction, a frequent meeting traffic has been entered with our citizens and a solution is being tried to be developed.
