The Turkish Psychological Association, which took action after the earthquakes that took place on February 6 and after, will deliver the "Basic Psychological First Aid Training", which provides services to all the people affected by the disaster and can be used by everyone, to all of Turkey free of charge through the Novarge and Vocational Schools Distance Education Centers. After the training, all participants will be given an online participation certificate.
Many countries from all over Turkey and the world took action to heal the wounds after the earthquakes that took place in Kahramanmaraş, Hatay and surrounding provinces on February 6th. After the earthquakes in which tens of thousands of our citizens lost their lives and were injured, psychological support is at the top of the priority needs list. The Turkish Psychological Association, which was established to meet the needs of individuals working in the field of psychological services and has been operating for almost half a century, continues its efforts to heal the wounds after the 6 February earthquake.
The Turkish Psychological Association, which has been carrying out various activities since the first day of the disaster, delivers "Basic Psychological First Aid Training", which can be used by everyone who provides services to all sectors affected by the disaster, to all of Turkey free of charge through the Novarge and Vocational Distance Education Centers. All participants who receive training in the digital environment are also given a "Certificate of Participation" in the digital environment.
Education will contribute to the formation of social awareness and awareness
Making statements about the project, the President of the Turkish Psychological Association Prof. Dr. Cem Şafak Çukur stated that they want to use the most effective methods in order to deliver psychosocial services to all segments in need in the most accurate way after the earthquake. Stating that they want to offer all segments in the fastest and most effective way by combining the expertise of Novarge in distance education with the expertise of the Turkish Psychological Association on psychosocial services, Çukur said that they aim to raise awareness of psychological first aid among citizens who provide services for all segments of the society affected by the earthquake.
Emphasizing that the "Psychosocial Effects of Disasters and Ways of Coping" training program includes all the issues to ensure the most accurate contact and support with the people affected by the earthquake, Çukur, the President of the Turkish Psychological Association, mentioned that the training will contribute to the formation of social awareness regarding the emotional states that may occur after a disaster in all segments.
Psycho-social support is among the priorities
Novarge Founder Mesut Karaağaç stated that the most urgent need at this stage is the need for psycho-social support for all the people affected by the earthquake, and for this, the Turkish Psychologists Association, one of the most respected professional organizations in Turkey, in cooperation with Novarge and Laborburda. He stated that they have prepared “Psychosocial Effects of Disasters and Ways of Coping” free of charge, which can be obtained by people who are in contact with other groups, and that the training program will be offered through Novarge's learning management system.
