President Soyer Visited Youth Camp where Earthquake Victims were Hosted

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer, visited the Youth Camp, which was completed in Özdere and made available to earthquake victims. Stating that they have mobilized all the possibilities of the municipality for the citizens who came to İzmir from the disaster area, Mayor Soyer said, "Our only wish is to cure the problems of our citizens until they establish a new life."

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyervisited Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's Youth and Sports Camp in Özdere, where earthquake victims who came to Izmir were hosted. Minister Tunç SoyerVisited the laundry, playground, dining hall and social facilities in the facility where 105 earthquake victims were accommodated, and got information from the teams. With earthquake survivors living in containers after the facility tour sohbet President Soyer listened to the needs and demands.

“Our only wish is to be a cure for troubles”

Stating that they decided to open this facility, which they prepared as a youth camp and which can accommodate 200 people, primarily to earthquake victims, Mayor Soyer said, “We completed the furnishing of the containers very quickly. Our educational foundations, especially the Bornova Anatolian High School Education Foundation, made significant contributions. They carried out the work of furnishing the rooms, adding laundries, drying machines and treatment plant. This place was prepared by hand. Families including our disabled children mostly from Hatay and Adıyaman settled down. Today I came to visit them and find out if they need anything. Thankfully, our friends here are satisfied with the services and opportunities offered. Our only wish is to provide a cure for the problems of our citizens, to alleviate their pain and to give them an opportunity to prepare for their new lives, until they can establish a new life.”

“We have more than 60 thousand earthquake victims in İzmir”

Mayor Soyer said that all means were mobilized to meet the needs of the earthquake victims who came to Izmir and said, “We, as the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, use all our means for our earthquake victims. We opened our Ornekkoy, Buca, Bornova facilities. We use all of our resources for earthquake victims. We have more than 60 thousand earthquake victims who came to İzmir. We try to meet the needs of those we can reach as much as we can. Unfortunately, the pain is too great. We are working together to alleviate these pains," he said.

“Container cities will be ready at the end of March”

Providing information about the container city works carried out simultaneously in the earthquake zone, Mayor Soyer said, “We will complete and open container cities in Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Osmaniye and Hatay by the end of March. We manufacture the containers ourselves in the workshops we set up here. Our welders and blacksmiths do the assembly in the earthquake zone. In this sense, we are moving very fast.”

Full capacity facility from sports facility to laundry

The facility, designed to meet all the needs of earthquake survivors, has 47 container houses with an accommodation capacity of approximately 200 people. The facility, where Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Department personnel serve, has a dining hall, cafeteria, laundry, reception, game room, psychosocial meeting room, infirmary, dressing room, and gym. The earthquake victims' needs for accommodation, nutrition, clothing, cleaning and hygiene materials are met.
