After President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed the decision to bring the elections forward, the relevant decision was published in the repeated issue of the Official Gazette.
Eyes turned to the Supreme Election Board. The board is expected to announce the election schedule.
ERDOĞAN SIGNED THE EXPECTED
In his speech at Beştepe while signing the election decision, Erdoğan said the following: “With the authorization given by Article 116 of our Constitution, I have signed the decision to renew the elections on May 18, which should be held on June 2023, 14. Following this decision, which will be published in the Official Gazette tomorrow, the Supreme Election Board (YSK) will start the two-month election calendar. Our nation will go to the polls on May 14, 2023 to elect a President and a deputy. I hope your decision will be beneficial for our country and our nation. We shared with the public the decision to update the date of the elections on May 14.”
