Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality is rapidly continuing the park work that will turn the area above 5.5 kilometers green, which is the 1st stage of the 2.5 kilometer tunnel section of GAZİRAY, opened by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, who examined the latest status of the works carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality Department of Urban Aesthetics and Green Areas, and toured the area with her technical team, gave the good news that the green axis will be completed at the end of March.
Fatma Şahin stated that they were on the field on the first working day of the year and said:
“We are in 2023, in the centennial year of our Republic. This is the heart, the pulse of the city. Underneath this is the line that we have been fighting for years, turning the land train line into a high-speed train. We have always studied other people's stories, urban planning. We are now writing our own story in the Century of Turkey with our colleagues. The project is local and national, our employees are ours, there is a great locality, leadership and leadership in all the projects we do. When the season starts, at the end of March, we will establish a large center here where everyone, children, young, old and disabled people will come and benefit from this environment. I believe and think that we should make the Gaziantep Model in our city, the closest city to the goals of the Century of Turkey, a model for Turkey and the world. I say we work with love and we will succeed together.”
The park axis, which covers a total area of 200 thousand square meters and includes recreational areas, bicycle and walking paths, sports equipment, interactive playgrounds and an 80 square meter herbal pool, will provide the citizens with the opportunity to rest in the center of the city.
Special drainage and irrigation techniques are used in the park area, which will house 30 thousand plants that will not damage the concrete underneath. In the park area, which consists of 6 sections, there will also be a “sutu football game” area, and the area will host many different functions.
