Karşıyakaİzmir Metropolitan Municipality, which decided to bid once again for 26 electric tram vehicles to be used on the tram line between Çiğli, returned empty-handed once again from the tender held today.

In order to strengthen the rail system network in urban transportation, the Metropolitan Municipality, which started the construction of Çiğli Tram with an investment of 414 million liras, went out to tender for the purchase of 26 electric tram vehicles in the past months. The winner of the tender organized by the company with an offer of 749 million 750 thousand TL Bozankaya Inc. company, but the company had unilaterally terminated the contract due to increased costs. The tender, which was to be held on 14 December, was postponed to 23 December.

As the construction of the Çiğli tram is drawing to a close, a tender was once again made today for the purchase of 26 Tram Vehicles, 127 Items of Spare Parts and 11 Items of Special Tools and Equipment. Only one firm participated in the tender held in Hall No. 2 in Kulturpark, but the firm's representative did not bid. The tender is expected to be repeated in the coming weeks.

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer Stating that the line will be put into service in March 2023, he said, “We are bringing Çiğli together with the tram. At the end of March, Çiğli will have a much more modern, clean and comfortable public transportation system. The cost of the investment, which will significantly relieve the Çiğli traffic, will reach 1,5 billion liras.
