Samsun Metropolitan Municipality has completed its works on the project that will transform the old Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital, which was built during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II and put into service as the 'Canik Hamidiye Hospital', by protecting the historical heritage and transforming it into a Family and Life Center. In the project, which was showcased for the first time, the 2-year-old hospital building and campus dazzle with its new concept. President Demir said, “We have prepared a very beautiful and special project for the region. By restoring and preserving the registered building, which is our historical value in the area, it will be one of the most beautiful areas of the city that appeals to everyone from 120 to 7.”

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which took over the hospital campus, which also includes the historical administration building, from the Ministry of Health, took action for the Family and Life Center project. After the project was approved by the General Directorate of National Real Estate, the municipality pressed the button for the concept study. The design of the project, which was prepared by the architectural firm that designed the Presidential Complex and Subaşı Square, was completed and delivered to the municipality. The municipality started the tender preparations for the building, which will be restored without damaging the texture of the historical building, which has the characteristics of Ottoman architecture. The historical building, whose restoration will begin with a tender, will then be transformed into the Family and Life Center.

EXAMPLE PROJECT IN TURKEY

The Family and Life Center, which will set an example for Turkey with its concept, content and features, will appeal to everyone from 7 to 70. There will be a single-storey women's center, a family counseling center and a women's gym in the campus, which consists of 11 main masses with a total closed construction area of ​​537 thousand 3 square meters. In addition to the women's center, children's and sports halls, children's and youth centers, sports complex, conference, meeting, exhibition halls, music and art workshops, science classes, computer and education classrooms, library, guesthouse, promotion center, intelligence development, individual There will be working, commercial and excursion areas.

TREES WILL BE PROTECTED

A cinema and boutique hotel will also be built for citizens who will have the opportunity to receive education in every field of art, from robotic coding to fairy tales, from drama to theater. The metropolitan municipality, which designs inner gardens and green areas between the masses connected by transparent glass tubes, will also build a parking lot with a capacity of 91 vehicles, 121 of which are closed. The municipality, which will protect the existing trees in the historical settlement with a large area, will make the landscaping arrangements without touching the wooded area on the land.

Making a statement about the project, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said that the Women and Family Life Center will be the first in Turkey with its concept. Stating that they are preparing a tender for the restoration works, President Demir said, “We have prepared a very beautiful and special project for Canik Hamidiye Hospital, which has a 120-year history. We are restoring and protecting the registered building, which is our historical value in the area, and transforming it into a family and living center. removing the walls surrounding the 28-acre area; We are turning the area into a living space where our children, young people, women and elderly people will breathe easily and have a good time. We will keep the neighborhood culture, love, respect and friendship alive in the green area. When its construction is completed, both the traditional neighborhood culture will be re-formed and spread, and the children, young and old people will have an environment where they can enjoy. All of our people, from 7 to 70, will benefit from social and cultural activities at the highest level by preserving the historical heritage and transfer them to future generations.

NAME CHANGED 5 TIMES

The historical campus, which was named Canik Gureba 1902 years after it was put into operation in 6 and Samsun Nation Hospital in 1924, was transferred to the Ministry of Health in 1954 and used as "Samsun State Hospital". With the relocation of the hospital in 1970, the campus started to serve again as the Black Sea Region Mental and Nerve Hospital after a short hiatus. It became Samsun Mental Health and Diseases Hospital in 1980, and it was badly damaged in the fire in 2007. With the hospital's move to the new service building, the historical building and campus became idle.
