Rize Mayor Rahmi Metin met with the members of the press working in the city on the occasion of 21 October World Journalists' Day at the Rize Municipality Alipaşa Social Facilities. Mayor Metin stated that the Light Rail System Project could be implemented in the long term and said, “As the municipality, we are working on this project” said.
President Metin, who spoke with the members of the press about the ongoing and planned investments in the city, was accompanied by the vice presidents at the press conference.
President Metin, who made statements on many subjects from urban transformation works to infrastructure works, from social facilities to stream rehabilitation and social and cultural studies, stated that they have been working hard for Rize as a team since the day they took office.
Information about the latest status of the works Mayor Metin said, “Our work continues in the municipality blocks. We set the delivery date as the end of 2022. The rough construction is finished in 15 days. On the other hand, interior and exterior construction works continue. In the national garden project, we will be ready for tender in 15-20 days. It will be a project that meets the sea. It will also be an excellent area for angling. The work on the Yaglitas urban transformation project continues at full speed. Ground improvement works on the sea site have been completed. The excavation work has begun. Then the floors will rise. Work continues on the urban transformation of Taşlıdere. We will make our Deniz Feneri Social facility ready in a month or two. We are also building a maritime museum inside. With the landscaping, it will become a new attraction point of our city.” said.
Answering the question asked about the Light Rail System Project, Metin said, “Metro-style investments hardly make a living even in places with a population of 1 million. The system we are talking about is the light rail system. Besides, we, as the municipality, are working on it. In the first place, from Atatürk Street to the AVM. This is not a promise. We're talking about possible. These are projects that have not even reached the feasibility stage at the moment," he said.
President Metin, who thanked the journalists for their participation, invited all citizens to the concert, fireworks show and cortege they will organize on the occasion of the 29 October Republic Day.
