CHP Istanbul Deputy Dr. Ali Şeker brought the scarcity and low capacity of the train services throughout the country, especially the train services between Istanbul and Ankara, to the agenda of the Assembly with the parliamentary question he directed to the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoğlu. CHP's Şeker said, "In today's world where the economic crisis is getting deeper and deeper, citizens, especially students, are looking for ways to travel in accordance with their budgets, while the scarcity of train services and the insufficiency of the capacity of the existing services create serious grievances."

Stating that the crisis in the economy has led to a serious increase in flight and bus ticket prices, Şeker from CHP said, “Even though citizens, who are crushed between real and official inflation, prefer to travel by train in the face of these increasing fees, the low number of flights and passenger capacities prevent citizens from choosing to travel by train. The lack of sufficient number of voyages for transportation by train throughout the country, especially between the two most important metropolises of our country, Istanbul and Ankara, and the insufficient passenger capacity in the current voyages cause serious grievances for the citizens.

Students Experience the Biggest Victimization

Reminding that with the opening of schools and educational institutions of all levels, students complained that they could not find tickets, Şeker from CHP said, “The number of train services should be increased as soon as possible and solutions that will increase the passenger capacity of trains should be implemented.”

CHP's Şeker asked the following questions to Minister Karaismailoğlu:

  1. What is the average number of daily flights throughout the country and the average number of passengers carried daily?
  2. Is it planned to increase the number of train services throughout the country?
  3. Is it planned to put additional wagons on trains in order to increase the train passenger capacity throughout the country?
