In the operation launched against 9 criminal groups, there are detention warrants for 198 suspects.
Operations, codenamed NEFES, were carried out in 2022 under the coordination of the KOM Department for the smuggling of tobacco products and macarons (hollow cigarette tubes for filling rolled-up tobacco). During the operations, 108 criminal groups were exposed and their illegal activities were ended.
In 2022, 625 Million Liras of Tax Loss Was Prevented
In addition, in the 2022 operations carried out by KOM units in the first 9 months of 6.115; 4.7 million packs of smuggled cigarettes, 1.3 billion empty macarons and 425 million filled, 273 tons of tobacco products and 329 thousand cigars were seized, 323 illegally filled macaron manufacturing shops were deciphered and 625 million lira tax loss was avoided thanks to the successful operations. .

In the long-term studies carried out within the scope of combating smuggling and organized crime groups; It was determined that macarons and tobacco products that should be legally sold with banderol are sold without banderol, criminal groups established illegal workshops with the machinery they provided, and the produced illegal macarons were delivered to the consumer in 20 packs. In addition, the KOM Presidency took action after identifying individuals and companies that manufacture machines for filling macarons and market these machines through their social media accounts.
Operation Started Simultaneously in 7 Provinces
In the studies carried out for criminal groups that illegally sell tobacco products and macarons without a bandrole in order to increase the efficiency in the fight against crime; 7 criminal groups operating in 9 provinces (Adana, Balıkesir, Gaziantep, İzmir, Kocaeli, Mardin, Şanlıurfa) operating in this field were deciphered. During the long-term follow-up and detection studies, the supply and distribution chain of the illegal products of these criminal groups was revealed, and the Nefes-2 operation was carried out simultaneously across the country, especially against these criminal groups, under the coordination of the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Presidency. It was aimed to prevent tax loss, to end the illegal activities of criminal groups, and to prevent the accessibility of illegal products to the society.
198 Detention Decision About the Suspect
Tobacco products and macarons within the scope of the operation; 7 suspects will be detained by searching 583 addresses identified throughout the country, especially in 198 provinces where criminal groups that produce in illegal workshops and engage in illegal trade operate.
