1 Billion 28 Million People in China Are Covered by Old Age Insurance

By the end of 2021, it was reported that 1 billion 28 million people in China were covered by old age insurance.

In the National Aging Studies Report for 2021, jointly published by the China National Health Commission and the China National Aging Study Commission, it was announced that the number of people covered by old-age insurance in the country by the end of the year increased by 30 million compared to the previous year and reached 1 billion 28 million.

Chinese society has been getting older in recent years. By the end of 2021, the number of people aged 60 and over in China reached 267 million 360 thousand, corresponding to 18,9 percent of the total population.

The number of citizens aged 65 and over has exceeded 200 million 560 thousand, making up 14,2 percent of the total population.
