We can say that the importance of pre-school education has been emphasized in our country as well as in the rest of the world in recent years.” said.

Saying that it has positive effects in many ways, Aycibin stated that pre-school education contributes to the development of the child in many ways, including cognitive, social, physical and language.

Most of the brain development is completed by the age of 6

Dr. Instructor Member Semiha Füsun Akdağ Aycibin made the following statements in her statement:

“Cognitive development: “When we investigate where the importance of pre-school education comes from, we see that two-thirds of brain development is completed by the age of 3. We see that pre-school education is essential in order not to lose these precious years, to connect the neurons in the brain with learning and to form a solid network. Because at this age, children's sense of curiosity and learning capacity is very high. Preschool education can make the most of the cognitively fastest learning period. In this process, correct and healthy information flow should be provided to their brains, which are in a state of continuous development.

The first step of socialization: Pre-school education

Social development: As it is known, school is the first social and social environment of a child outside the family. With the new information and acquisitions that he will learn in this environment, the child will also gain the ability to solve the problems that he will encounter in adulthood and will develop his own unique coping methods. According to the researches, children who attend such an educational institution grow up as individuals who live in harmony with their environment both mentally and psychologically. Because preschool education is the first step of socialization. Being in the community, sharing, communicating and social rules (washing hands before meals, waiting in line, etc.) are learned through pre-school education.

They gain physical resistance

Physical resistance: It is seen that children who attend pre-school education institutions are physically stronger than their peers in the future. Environments such as school have a very important function in this regard, and when children start school, they get sick frequently, but also gain resistance against these diseases.

Preschool years are also important for language development.

Language development: Scientists working on the acquisition and development of language agree that especially the preschool years are a critical period in language development. In addition, language is a very important factor in a child's learning. For these reasons, it is necessary to give importance to the language development of the child in the preschool years and to prepare teaching-learning environments that support language development. The quality of the experiences that the child will gain at this age greatly affects their later learning.”

Participate in activities that will help language development

Dr. Instructor Emphasizing the importance of organizing activities that will help the child's language development in pre-school education, Semiha Füsun Akdağ said, “It is useful for these activities to be activities that will enrich the child's vocabulary (word games, talking about pictures, finger games, nursery rhymes, dramatization, listening to a record, reading a book). ” he said.

Preschool education facilitates adaptation

Stating that individuals who start education at an early age with pre-school education, they adapt better to education at different education levels and to society, Dr. Instructor Member Semiha Füsun Akdağ said:

“It has been determined that the social and academic skills of these individuals are more developed than their peers who have not received pre-school education. Similarly, it is known that the quality education given in the early years contributes to the individual's being more effective and productive in social and social life. Some studies on the rates of return on education investments show that the results of investment in different types and levels of education differ. Accordingly, it has been determined that the rate of return on investment in people is higher in pre-school education than both other education levels and training in the post-school period.

It also determines the future of the child.

Stating that an important part of the skills acquired in childhood is observed in studies that direct the individual in adulthood and shape his personality, beliefs and value judgments, Dr. Instructor Semiha Füsun Akdağ, its member, said, “Qualified pre-school education enables the emergence of skills in language, literature, mathematics and science, and also supports the development of children's skills such as social competence and self-efficacy.” said.

It also significantly affects student success.

Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Child Development Dr. Instructor Semiha Füsun Akdağ, its member, concluded her words as follows: “It is known that quality pre-school education makes children ready for the next education level, affects their success in the level they are in, and increases success in primary schools. Similarly, according to the data of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD, 2012), the average score of 15-year-old students from Turkey who participated in PISA assessments, who received pre-school education for one year or less, is 42 points higher on average than those who did not receive any pre-school education. Similarly, in the OECD (2015) report, it is stated that students who receive pre-school education between 1-2 years in Turkey perform better than students who do not, and there is a significant difference of 17 points among these students.
