A fine of 5 million 27 thousand 626 liras was imposed on the ship that polluted the Izmit Gulf. Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department teams, during their inspection in the Gulf of Izmit, determined that dirty ballast was poured into the sea from the Panama-flagged dry cargo ship "Maximus-1" in Yarımca region. The teams fined the dry cargo ship, which was found to have polluted the sea, with a fine of 5 million 27 thousand 626 TL.
