Izmir residents, who cannot forget the miniature train that has been in service for many years in Kültürpark, revive their memories of the fair thanks to the Nostalgic Tram. The electric Nostalgic Tram, which runs in Kültürpark, attracts great attention. The trams named Çiğdem and Boyoz, which tour Kültürpark free of charge between 18.00-24.00 throughout the fair, take visitors to the past.

This year, the “Nostalgic Tram” traveling at the 91st İzmir International Fair, organized together with the world's largest gastronomy fair Terra Madre Anadolu İzmir, makes you travel to the past. The Nostalgic Tram, which took the place of the miniature train that started to tour Kültürpark for the first time in the 1964rd Izmir International Fair in 33, together with the Fair last year, serves the visitors at the Fair this year as well. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality İzmir Metro A.Ş.'s nostalgic trams named “Çiğdem” and “Boyoz” tour Kültürpark on the similar 2-kilometer route of the miniature train throughout the Fair.

The visitors of the fair show great interest in the nostalgic trams that start their services in the area opposite the Celal Atik Sports Hall with a frequency of 15 minutes. Citizens who take the tram from the starting point have the chance to visit Kültürpark with a half-hour tour. Children under the age of 12 can join the tour by riding under the supervision of their parents. Little passengers are also given train models and surprise gifts. Tours are organized in accordance with pandemic conditions. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's Nostalgic Tram named “Gevrek” continues to operate in Kordon. The trams, which started their services in Kordon for the first time in 2020, are also the favorite of those who want to take a souvenir photo. Nostalgic Trams will continue their tours until Sunday, September 91, 11, the closing day of the 2022st Izmir International Fair.

“It took me to my childhood”

Hüseyin Ruhi Pekçetin and Nimet Pekçetin, who stated that they came to İzmir from Manisa during their childhood and youth, said, “We used to take the miniature train back then. We saw many firsts at the Izmir Fair. The nostalgic tram took us to our childhood, to the fair atmosphere of that period. We wanted to ride when we saw it at the fair. For us, it was like a time travel that took us back to the past.”

“We wanted our child to experience this atmosphere”

Sabriye – Nihat Bahadır couple said that they brought their 4-year-old daughter, Nisa, to Kültürpark to experience the atmosphere of the Izmir Fair, adding, “We loved the color and design of the nostalgic trams. The most beautiful thing is that their names are Çiğdem and Boyoz, which are identified with İzmir. The nostalgic tram took us to the old times, to the fairs of our childhood. We took a souvenir photo together. It was also a pleasure for our daughter to experience this atmosphere.”

“Feels like going into the past”

İlayda Karakaya, who stated that she used the normal tram in her daily life, but never got on the nostalgic tram, said, “I really liked it when I saw it in Kordon, it aroused good feelings in me. It can become a symbol as well as creating a beautiful image for the newcomers to the city. When you look at it, it feels like you've gone back in time. Even if I am not old enough, I feel relaxed and like I went back in time when I board the historical ferries. When I saw it here, I wanted to take a souvenir photo first and then ride it," he said.
