Turkey's 20% domestic capital polyurethane producer Kimpur continues to take new steps to create a sustainable future. The chemical industry company, which has succeeded in obtaining approximately 17% of the polyester polyol used in the manufacture of slippers from PET waste and approximately 20% from bio-based raw materials, is proud of having developed one of the best examples of nature-friendly product ranges in its sector. The new product, which will be launched at the SIMAC TANNING TECH Fair to be held in Italy on September XNUMX, will lead the sector by enabling the production of slippers with the first elastic structure obtained from pet wastes.

According to the 2021 data of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, 1 kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions are prevented with 41 ton of plastic collected and used in recycling, 66% of raw materials and 5 kilowatts of energy are saved with 774%. Based on these important data for nature protection and sustainability, Kimpur, one of the biggest exporters among polyurethane system houses, synthesized polyester polyol from PET bottle wastes with its project in which industrial trials were carried out in the production of slippers, and obtained a final product that does not compromise its physical and mechanical properties compared to existing standard systems. Implementing the 'Polyester Polyol Synthesis from Pet Bottle Wastes and its Commercial Use in Polyurethane Systems' project, which was awarded in the 80th R&D Project Market organized by the Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters' Association (IKMIB), in 2021, Kimpur became a sustainable and recycling-oriented project. has taken a pioneering step in the manufacture of the product.

“We continue our R&D studies that contribute significantly to efficiency and savings”

Stating that they are proud of leading the sector by offering extraordinary solutions to create projects beneficial to the environment and society with the Kimpur R&D Center registered by the Ministry of Industry and Technology in 2017, Kimpur R&D Director Dr. Yener Rakıcıoğlu said: “As Turkey's 2021% domestic polyurethane producer, we continue our R&D studies that contribute significantly to efficiency and savings in the life cycle of our products. In accordance with the Montreal Protocol, an international agreement to combat global warming and climate change, with the investments we made with the encouragement of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), we completely remove the ozone-depleting inflator gases from our products and use more environmentally friendly inflator gases. We continue to work on biobased projects. In 20, we started to use bio-based raw materials in our shoe product group and in our rigid foam systems product group used in sandwich panel production. By synthesizing polyester polyol from pet bottle waste this year, we succeeded in obtaining a final product that does not compromise its physical and mechanical properties and provides a cost advantage compared to existing standard systems. We are breaking new ground in the sector with the elastic structure of the product we have obtained, and we are happy to have taken a pioneering step in our sector with this product. We will launch our eco-friendly product at SIMAC TANNING TECH Fair to be held in Italy on September XNUMX. We will continue to contribute to the sustainable transformation of industry and economy with our investments.”

Capacity of the recycling plant is 5000 tons

Aiming to significantly increase the commercial use of its nature-friendly product in the recycling facility with a capacity of 2 tons for pet waste, which it will commission in its second production facility in Düzce, Kimpur focuses on recycling in its new production facility in Düzce, within the scope of its sustainability goals, and with this investment, approximately one percent of the total electricity consumption. In addition to meeting 5000 of them, it aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 55 tons per year.

Continuing to add new projects to its mission of leaving a livable world to future generations with its work in the field of sustainability, Kimpur saved 2021% in energy in 7,06, according to its sustainability report. The company, which has also taken an important step for the necessary transformations in industrial production of the EU Green Agreement, which has the potential to affect almost everything from industry to exports, from access to finance to the functioning of the economy, has provided approximately 20 percent of the energy required for production with a solar power plant installed in its factory building in Gebze. will get energy.
