WHAT HAPPENED IN BÜYÜKÇEKMECE?

In order for the residents of Istanbul to benefit from the beach uninterruptedly and spend quality time, many facilities including green areas, bicycle and train tracks, parking lot, bicycle park, and a disabled charging station were provided, in addition to the public beach, on a total area of ​​98 thousand square meters. Due to the inadequacy of the existing wastewater line at the Büyükçekmece Albatros Beach, flooding was occurring in the region. There was sea water inflows to the collector line and the treatment plant could not be used efficiently. There were also wastewater inflows into the Marmara Sea. IMM also renewed the infrastructure within the scope of Büyükçekmece Coastal Arrangement work to prevent the risk of flooding and end environmental pollution. 3 thousand 610 meters of waste water and 2 thousand 720 meters of rain water channels were manufactured by İSKİ.

THE WATER FLOW BETWEEN THE LAKE AND THE SEA IS NOT STOPPED

At the junction of Büyükçekmece Lake and the Marmara Sea, which is one of the most critical places of the works, canal works have also started. Due to the insufficient diameter of the existing waste water collector and the loss of the economic life of the collector, seawater intrusion into the waste water line was experienced and the treatment plant equipment was damaged accordingly. In the Büyükçekmece Lake crossing, a difficult project that has not been done for many years, necessary manufacturing was made by İSKİ and a permanent solution was found with a 64-meter sea crossing. The works were completed in 2 stages. During the production, the water flow between the Marmara Sea and Büyükçekmece Lake was not interrupted and no living things were harmed. With the completion of the works, the entry of waste water into the Marmara Sea was prevented.

RESPONSE TO D100

The problems caused by the D100 road (E5), one of the most important transportation main arteries of Istanbul, in Büyükçekmece are also being solved within the scope of the works. Since there was no separator between the main road and the side road in the region until recently, when the public transportation vehicles stopped, the E80 traffic with an average speed of 5 kilometers per hour was blocked, and there were accidents due to uncontrolled exiting vehicles. In addition, since there was no physical separation barrier between the pedestrians and the vehicles traveling on the E5 main road, accidents in the form of hitting the pedestrians were in question. With the side road arrangement made, the traffic on the E5 main road has been streamlined. On the other hand, an uninterrupted pedestrian path was completed for pedestrians whose public transportation points were determined on the side road.
