14 March Medicine Day started with a wreath laying ceremony at the Atatürk monument in İzmir's Cumhuriyet Square. Mustafa Özuslu, Deputy Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, attended the ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony, İzmir Provincial Health Director Hüseyin Bozdemir said that he hoped that the efforts of healthcare professionals would be rewarded and that all health problems would be resolved in a short time.

In İzmir, 14 March Medicine Day started with a wreath laying ceremony at the monument in Cumhuriyet Square. İzmir Deputy Governor Fatih Kızıltoprak, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mustafa Özuslu, İzmir Provincial Health Director Deputy Hüseyin Bozdemir, İzmir Medical Chamber President Lütfi Çamlı, rectors of universities in İzmir and health workers attended the ceremony. After the moment of silence and the National Anthem, a wreath was laid at the monument.

Speaking at the ceremony, İzmir Provincial Health Director Hüseyin Bozdemir said that March 14 is the feast of health workers. Hüseyin Bozdemir said, “I congratulate the 14th March Medicine Day of all healthcare professionals, with my colleagues who have received medical education and contributed to medical education, who aim to keep people alive, to offer a more qualified life to humanity, and fulfill their profession with devotion.”

“Doctorate is a way of life”

İzmir Provincial Health Director Hüseyin Bozdemir stated that he always believed that being a doctor was not just a profession, but a lifestyle. This profession, which starts with a demanding education and includes self-sacrifice and serving with superhuman efforts, has always been and will always be accepted as a sacred, respectable and honorable profession. The epidemic, which affected the whole world about two and a half years ago, besides the usual conditions of health workers; showed that our people come to the fore in all kinds of extraordinary situations such as war, disaster, epidemic. I hope that the hardship and efforts of us healthcare professionals will be rewarded both in the society and in our personal rights, and that all problems in the field of health will be resolved in a short time.”
