The construction works have started in the Ata Training Center, which will be realized by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality for the full-scale training of firefighters, and will consist of 9 different stations and training areas. The Center, whose breadth, scope and content will be at European standards; It will serve as Turkey's most comprehensive firefighting training center with its psychology trainings.

Ata Training Center, which will be established on an area of ​​8 thousand 400 square meters; Vocational Training Hall, Observation and Attack Station (solid fuel operated), Fire House Station (Zero Vision-Artificial Smoke-Night Vision Camera and Sound Tracking), Tanker Accident Fire Response Station (LPG operated), Well Operations Station, High Angle Rescue Station , Traffic Accident Intervention Station, Urban Search and Rescue Station, Firefighting Sports Training and Climbing Tower, Balanced Walking Board, High Jumping Board and Dog Training Center. In addition to the personnel of the Metropolitan Municipality, the personnel of the public and private institutions and organizations in need will also be able to receive training at the Center.

“We will bring Mersin together with a much more dynamic fire department”

Speaking about Ata Training Center at the presentation ceremony of the new vehicles taken to the Fire Brigade Department, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer said, “We will put the Ata Training Center into service by the end of this year. This center will be Turkey's most modern, most technical, well-equipped and well-trained firefighting training center. Hopefully, at the beginning of 2023, our friends will start training there. In the future, we will bring Mersin together with a much more dynamic fire brigade.”

“September 16 is our deadline”

Mustafa Yılmazoğlu, who works as a Civil Engineer in Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Science Department, is the controller of Ata Training Center. Sharing the technical details of the project, Yılmazoğlu said, “We will train our firefighters here. We will have 7,5 buildings in a closed area of ​​900 square meters on approximately 3 acres of land. It will be our main administration building, conference space and dog training centre. In addition, training areas for different purposes will be established with containers. Site delivery was made on January 20, and it started. September 16 is our latest delivery date,” he said.

“We are establishing a facility at European standards in Turkey”

Murat Demirbağ, License Branch Manager at the Fire Brigade Department, explained the details of the Fire Brigade Training Stations to be located in the Center. Sharing important details such as the Child Education Center and the Dog Training Center, Demirbağ said, “We will have a tower right in the middle. Firefighters will have a running track. We still have room to make an effort there. We have a well right next to it. Right next to it, we have the Observation Attack Station. We have another fire room right next to it. We have a smokehouse, a facility for tanker accidents and a facility for fuel oil fires,” he said.

Stating that there are 8 firefighting training centers in Turkey, Demirbağ stated that the most comprehensive one will be in Mersin and said, “We will be the 9th one, but we have a difference from them. We will also have psychologist training in our facility. Even firefighters from abroad will come and get this training from us. We are currently establishing a facility at European standards in Turkey. May it be good for our Mersin.”
