The Ministry of National Education opened 6 new kindergartens and 102 new kindergarten classes in 7 months within the scope of expanding access to pre-school education in order to increase equal opportunities in education.
The Ministry of National Education is advancing with firm steps towards the goals it has set for expanding access to pre-school education in order to increase equality of opportunity in education. By the end of 2022, the Ministry aims to increase the capacity of pre-school education institutions by 3 percent by building 40 thousand new kindergartens and 100 thousand new kindergarten classes, and continues its activities without interruption. In this context, MEB opened 6 new kindergartens and 102 new kindergarten classes in 7 months.
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer emphasized that as the Ministry, they have carried out many studies to increase the equality of opportunity in education by increasing the schooling rates at all levels, and in this direction, they attach greater importance to the pre-school period, which is of critical importance in reducing the gap in success among students.
Stating that they have made rapid progress towards the target of 3 thousand new kindergartens and 40 thousand new kindergarten classes by the end of the year, Minister Özer said:
“We are conducting intensive studies in 81 provinces to increase school enrollment rates. We opened 6 kindergartens and 102 kindergarten classes in a short period of 7 months. Thus, we will be closer to our goal in increasing the capacity of our pre-school education institutions.
Our process for the construction of new kindergartens and nursery classes is progressing as planned. On the other hand, we also use alternative models for our children's access to pre-school education in this period. We deliver pre-school education to every child with home-based models such as the mobile teacher classroom, the transport center nursery class and My Play Chest.”
