The Istanbul Governor's Office announced that it banned meetings, marches and press statements in Beyoğlu on March 8, International Working Women's Day.

In the statement made by the Governorship of Istanbul, the following statements were used:

On the occasion of March 8, International Women's Day, indoor and outdoor meeting, press release, distribution of leaflets, opening of stands-banners and marches in 03 districts from March 2022, 20 until today, in places previously announced within the scope of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911. 47 events were organized.

In some shares made through social media; It has been determined that calls have been made to organize various events in and around Taksim Square on the occasion of 8 March International Women's Day.

By our Beyoğlu District Governor's Office, on Tuesday, March 08, 2022, meetings, marches, press releases, sit-ins, booths, tents, leaflets etc. to unlawful acts; In order to protect rights and freedoms and to prevent crime, meetings and marches will not be allowed pursuant to Law No. 2911 and Law No. 5442 on Provincial Administration.

In addition, activities within the legal framework will be held in places and on routes where meetings and demonstration marches were previously announced for our citizens in Istanbul within the scope of Law No. 2911.

Unlawful action will not be permitted in areas other than those specified.

All security measures have been taken to ensure that all events to be held in our city are held on legal grounds and in designated places, in an atmosphere of peace and security.” expressions were used.
