63 scientists from prestigious universities in the world, from Harvard to Tokyo, will continue their research in Turkey. The evaluation process of TÜBİTAK's International Leader and Young Researchers Program has been completed. Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank announced the results. Noting that 47 new researchers, 63 of whom are Turkish, will come to Turkey with the program, Minister Varank said, “27 senior researchers from the USA, Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, China, France, Sweden, Japan, Russia, 20 different universities and research centers in our country. will attend.” said.

Speaking at the opening of the Horizon Europe meeting held online, Minister Varank said:

INTERNATIONAL LEADING RESEARCHERS

About 4 years ago, President Erdoğan announced a homecoming mobilization for our scientists at TEKNOFEST, the world's largest Aviation, Space and Technology Festival. In this direction, we launched the International Leading Researchers Program for the best researchers in their fields, especially scientists of Turkish origin.

NATIONAL LEADING RESEARCHERS

We have succeeded in bringing the work of 127 scientists from the world's most prestigious universities, global companies that invest the most in R&D, and international research institutes to our country. We also launched the National Leading Researchers Program for successful researchers currently working in Turkey. In both areas, we made a new call in 2021.

REVERSE BRAIN DRAIN

We have completed the evaluation of these calls. Within the scope of the International Leader and Young Researchers Programs, 47 new researchers, 63 of whom are Turkish, are coming to Turkey with the brain drain programs of TÜBİTAK, in contrast to TÜBİTAK. 9 senior researchers from 27 countries (USA, Germany, Austria, UK, China, France, Sweden, Japan, Russia) will attend 20 different universities and research centers in our country. These researchers come from respected and prestigious universities such as Harvard, Huazhong, John Hopkins, Ohio, Osaka, Purdue, Achen, Tokyo and Tubingen. They will continue their studies in the fields of Health Sciences, Social and Human Sciences, Technical Sciences and Basic Sciences in Turkey.

YOUNG RESEARCHERS FROM 21 UNIVERSITIES

Again, with the call of 2021, 12 international young researchers from 36 countries will join 21 different universities and research centers in our country. These young researchers come to our country from 31 successful universities and research centers such as Duke, Harvard, Humbold, MIT, Seoul, Stanford, Munich and Tokyo Universities.

WE WILL STRENGTHEN THE ECOSYSTEM

Within the scope of the National Leading Researchers program, which we announced for the first time, we will support 42 researchers who are currently continuing their research in our country. Thus, with the contributions of 105 leaders and young researchers in total, we will further strengthen the science, innovation and innovation ecosystem of our country.

127 RESEARCHERS HAVE BEEN SUPPORTED TODAY

The International Leading Researchers Program and the International Young Researchers Program aim to attract scientists who do high-level scientific and technological studies abroad to Turkey. Researchers accepted to the International Leading Researchers Program with the call announced by Minister Varank will carry out studies in the fields of health, technical, basic, social and human sciences. With the International Leading Researchers Program launched in 2018, a total of 98 researchers, 29 Turkish and 127 foreign, have been supported so far.
