Within the scope of the Climate Council organized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change in Konya, names from the media, art and television community participated in the "Who Changes First" panel.

TV personality and presenter Mesut Yar moderated the "Who is Changing First" panel held as part of the ongoing Climate Council at the Selçuklu Congress Center; Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum, actor Engin Altan Düzyatan, television programmers Güven İslamoğlu and Ayhan Sicimoğlu, and the successful player of İttifak Holding Konyaspor Abdulkerim Bardakçı attended as speakers.

Speaking at the panel, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum stated that our country and the world were adversely affected by climate change and said, "Because we are a closed basin, the Mediterranean Basin is getting warmer and we feel the effects of climate change clearly. We are losing our lives, our cities are seriously damaged. At this point, Turkey's historical responsibility is almost non-existent. We should be proud of our country. When you look at the developed countries, they have polluted the world many times more than us and used the resources roughly. Even in Africa, they even put those countries into trouble at the point of emission with the colonies.” said.

In the continuation of his speech, Minister Kurum explained their work as a ministry in the fight against climate change.

As a listener to the panel; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Governor of Konya Vahdettin Özkan, Chief Public Prosecutor Ramazan Solmaz, Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay, World Bank Turkey Director Auguste Kouame, Head of EU Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, Undersecretary of Economy of the Japanese Embassy in Ankara Nobuhiko Watanabe, AK Party Konya Provincial President Hasan Angı and many guests attended.

AWARDS WERE GIVEN TO THE STUDENTS WHO RANKED IN THE “BICYCLE CITY KONYA” PAINTING COMPETITION

At the end of the program, gifts were given to the students who were ranked in the painting competition themed “Bicycle City Konya” organized by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality within the framework of the European Mobility Week for 4th grade primary school students.

Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay thanked the panelists and all the students who participated in the competition. President Altay said, “This week, when we hosted the Climate Council, it was also meaningful to hold the award ceremony of this competition in a process where the effects of climate change and solutions were discussed. Congratulations to all our students who participated in the competition.” said.

Panelists presented their awards to Sevim Ece Yorgancı from Selçuklu district, Ahmet Eren Çataltepe from Karatay district, and Mevlüt Utku Kendir from Derebucak district, third. Within the scope of the competition, a total of 31 students from 91 districts won bicycles and bicycle equipment, while the winning pictures will be exhibited at the Selcuklu Congress Center during the Climate Council.
