The legal arrangement that allows public transport unions and cooperatives to work under the Metropolitan roof and with its criteria has finally been issued. With the persistent efforts of President Aziz Kocaoğlu, additions were made to the relevant article of law. Thanks to the new arrangement, the "waste of resources" in the districts outside the center due to the parallel operation of municipal buses and cooperative vehicles will also be prevented. Mayor Kocaoğlu said that the new system will be in favor of both public transporters and citizens working under the umbrella of the union and cooperatives.
The proposal that the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu has been working on for a long time and lastly sent a letter to the members of the Council of Ministers with 538 deputies was also accepted from Ankara. With the regulation in article 14 of the “Law on Amending Some Laws” published in the Official Gazette, some additions were made to Article 5216 of the Metropolitan Municipality Law numbered 7 in line with the proposal of President Kocaoğlu.
Added the following sentences to the law:
“Regarding the public transportation lines in Metropolitan; To decide on the operation of public transportation services related to the lines to be determined based on the distance to city center, population and number of line users. ”
“On the basis of the criteria in the second sentence of subparagraph (p) of the first paragraph, the metropolitan municipalities may decide to provide the operation of the public transportation lines in the places determined by the metropolitan city council decision, the transportation units or cooperatives established in that region. Income support payments can be made to the transport unions or cooperatives for those who will benefit from free or reduced injuries from municipal budgets, public transportation services. ”
