Exploring the New Metro Lines in Ankara: Which Districts Will They Serve?

Expanding Access in Mamak and Natoyolu

The recent metro project plans in Ankara focus on developing the eastern districts such as Mamak and Natoyolu. These projects aim to extend the current rail network to better connect residents with key city centers. Designed to include approximately 8 stations over a 7.4-kilometer route, the new line will feature stops at Abidinpaşa, Aşık Veysel, Tuzluçayır, and Natoyolu itself. Soon, commuters in these neighborhoods will experience a significant boost in accessibility, reducing reliance on buses and private vehicles, and encouraging more sustainable travel habits.

Enhancing West and North Connectivity: Yaşamkent, Bağlıca, and Pursaklar

Metropolitan growth in Ankara towards the west and north has catalyzed plans for new metro links. The proposed extensions aim to connect Koru to Yaşamkent and Bağlıca, offering residents seamless access to the city center. Stations around Konutkent and Başkent Üniversitesi will facilitate easier commutes and promote regional development. Additionally, the upcoming lines intend to integrate these districts more fully into Ankara’s urban fabric, boosting local commerce and improving the daily lives of residents through quicker, more reliable transit options.

Strategic Projects in Dikmen and Kuzey Ankara

In the southern part of Çankaya, a new metro line plans to connect Dikmen directly to Kızılay, enhancing mobility for residents in areas that currently lack efficient transit options. This project will involve addressing complex terrain and land use patterns, but promises to alleviate congestion and shorten travel times significantly. Further north, the Esenboğa Airport metro initiative targets ties between the city’s northern districts and the airport, strengthening regional integration. This route will include stops at Demirlibahçe, Siteler, and Pursaklar, supporting economic growth and welcoming international travelers more efficiently.
