IMM reminds us of the commemoration program for Şeb-i Arûs of Mevlânâ Celâleddin-i Rûmî, who has been the symbol of tolerance and peace for centuries, with a special agenda held in Istanbul between 5-17 December. This meeting; It brings together love, wisdom and tradition and presents culture and music together with concerts, panels, ceremonies and conversations. Şeb-i Arûs events spread all over Istanbul with their programs enriched by academics, artists and researchers who are experts in their fields.

The events meet with the audience in the historical places of Istanbul through performances and openings to be held in Artİstanbul Feshane and various cultural centers of Istanbul. While the concert starts with the flute and discovers the rich sound world of Mevlevi music, participants experience the effects and origins of the musical heritage extending from past to present.

EventsAmong these are gala concerts to be held at Artİstanbul Feshane, works that reinterpret the Mevlevi tradition with the special repertoires of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Turkish Classical Music Ensemble and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Orchestra. In addition, panels and tours linking Mevlevi culture with Istanbul life were planned to include the city’s leading Mevlevi lodges.

Mevlevi Enlightenment and Local Travels

The process, which started with the re-staging of Yegâh Ayin-i Şerîfi, continues with the Feyzullah Çelebi concert on December 14. Then, performances such as the Sema Ceremony and the Acemaşîran Mevlevi Rite move around the venues on Şeb-i Arûs days, allowing the legacy of Mevlana to be conveyed live. Excursions offer participants the opportunity to see the Mevlevi heritage all over the city through the lodges in Galata, Yenikapı, Bahariye and Kasımpaşa.
