The Prague-based leading defense industry company, Czechoslovak Group (CSG), announced that it has established a new company called AviaNera Technologies to enter the unmanned aerial systems (UAS) market. This move is part of CSG’s goal to extend its existing capabilities in the production of military ammunition and equipment into the field of high-tech defense technologies.

CSG’s Strategic Goal: To Become a Major Player in Military UAVs

Michal Strnad, a Czech entrepreneur and owner of CSG—and son of the group’s founder, Jaroslav Strnad—outlined his ambitious goals regarding the new company’s establishment. Strnad stated, “Our goal is to become a major player in the field of military UAVs and advanced weapon systems.” He noted that they aim to replicate the success they achieved in the small-caliber ammunition sector in the field of high-tech defense technologies.

AviaNera Technologies will primarily focus on the development and production of jet, turbofan, and shaft engines, which are critical for unmanned solutions.

Global Partnerships and New Market Opportunities

A statement from CSG indicated that the AviaNera team aims to grow rapidly. The company is currently conducting discussions regarding the “acquisition of promising companies in Europe.” At the same time, it is establishing partnerships in Ukraine, which is currently a major driving force behind the development of military UAV technology. CSG is also known as one of the key suppliers providing artillery ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

At the DSEI defense industry exhibition in London in September 2025, CSG representatives noted that Poland and the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania) were among the countries where the group plans to strengthen its presence.

In addition to its numerous subsidiaries in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, CSG also has branches in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Serbia, and India. Its subsidiaries in the U.S. include well-known brands such as Remington, Federal, CCI, Hevi-Shot, Speer, and Kinetic Group.

This strategic move demonstrates that CSG has initiated a global transformation from the traditional defense sector toward the modern, high-tech UAV market.
