Great Interest from Industrialists in the Green Transformation Meeting

Making the opening speech of the meeting, KAYSO Board Member İlhan Baloğlu reminded that the Green Transformation process will start to be implemented as of January 01, 2026, and said that industrialists should evaluate this process well.

Stating that some companies in Europe have started to request some documents related to carbon emissions on a quarterly basis, Baloğlu said, “Actually, the next two years will be a period of getting used to this process. The path to export is through green transformation. As a country that missed the industrial revolution, I think we should make good use of this opportunity for both our country and our businesses. I believe that this potential lies in our industrialists. We don't have much time left. "As the Chamber of Industry, we are ready to stand by all our members in this process and provide all the support we can," he said.

Orhan Solak, Deputy Director of Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, who came to the podium later, stated that climate change has become a global problem and said, “As a country, we are located in the Mediterranean zone, where climate change is felt the most. As a result, we face environmental, economic and social losses in disasters. Green transformation brings with it a comprehensive change and transformation in all sectors in order to eliminate the negative effects of climate change. The industrial sector has a critical role in this process. "Aware of this process, we, as a country, took important political steps and started the green transformation process," he said.

Solak then gave information to the participants about the work they carried out as the Climate Change Directorate.

In the later parts of the meeting, "Our Country's Greenhouse Gas Emissions Monitoring, Reporting and Verification System" by Volkan Polat, Head of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Monitoring Department of the Climate Change Presidency, "General Information on the Border Carbon Regulation Mechanism" by Trade Expert Özge Öktem, an employee of the Ministry of Commerce, and "General Information on the Border Carbon Regulation Mechanism" by the Climate Change Presidency Carbon Informational presentations were made on "ETS and SKDM Relationship" by Climate Change Expert Mustafa Kemal Arsunar, an employee of the Pricing Department, and "Carbon Footprint Calculation Standards" by Turkish Standards Institute Environmental Surveillance and Verification Manager Mehmet Ergün.

In the second part of the meeting, Turkey Development and Investment Bank Inc. moderated by Climate Change Vice President Orhan Solak. The "Green Transformation and Border Carbon Regulation Mechanism Panel" was held, in which Deputy General Manager Seçil Yıldız, Chemical Engineer Meryem Arslan, employee of ÇŞİDB Environmental Management General Directorate, and Expert Hakan Acar, employee of the Climate Change Presidency, Climate Finance and Incentives Department, participated as panelists.

During and after the panel, questions from the participants were answered by experts and panelists, and the information and consultation meeting ended.
