Strike Statement from Lezita

Lezita published an informative message about the ongoing process following the strike launched in the production facilities in the Kemalpaşa district of Izmir.

The statement made by the company is as follows:

The strike launched by Öz Gıda Labor Union on 7.3.2024 in our factory in İzmir Kemalpaşa, without the approval of our employees, was ineffective; While our facility continues production at full capacity, there has been no disruption in the supply chain and no change in our quality and operation.

After the strike decision, 3.500 of our approximately 168 employees did not return to work. Our 3.300 employees continued to work. Our company, which acts in accordance with the law and regulations, has not employed anyone to perform the work of striking workers.

Thus; On 11.3.2024 and subsequent dates, inspections were carried out by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security on the grounds of strikebreaking and the recruitment of workers to replace workers who went on strike, but it was confirmed by the Ministry's inspectors that there was no such situation. This issue is confirmed by official minutes. In the present case; Those who did not go on strike but resigned for some reason, retirement, marriage, etc. 69 employees were hired to replace the 55 employees who left their jobs for justified reasons. This situation can be confirmed by looking at official records.

As a 100% local and national company, the use of local resources is our first priority. However, in the process in question; Our ongoing efforts to find employees, taking into account the workforce requirements in production, may be insufficient due to the location of our factory. At this point, in order to ensure the continuity of production, foreign labor resources approved by the General Directorate of International Labor Force of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security are considered as an alternative. This practice carried out by the Ministry is a method used by other companies in the sector.

Currently, 37 foreign workers are employed in our company, which corresponds to only 1% of our total workforce. Our university graduates and foreign language-speaking personnel employed with this method are assigned to technical and logistics units.

As Lezita, our most important value is our employees and the protection of our employees' rights. We are proud to be among the top institutions in our sector that provide the best conditions to their employees.
