14 Million Dollars Grant from Japan for Carbon Footprint Reduction Projects!

Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), implemented by the Government of Japan, can provide grants of up to 14 million dollars for energy systems projects that reduce carbon footprint. While the Turkish Government started negotiations to become a member of JCM; Yanmar Turkey implements projects that meet the required qualifications in order to receive the grant for energy systems.

While the effects of global warming are experienced more and more every day due to increasing carbon emissions all over the world, investing in renewable energy systems and projects that reduce carbon footprint is becoming a priority for companies. Japan-based Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM); It works to minimize the effects of global warming by providing grant support to energy projects that reduce carbon emissions in areas with high and uninterrupted energy needs such as production, industry, hospitals, hotels and power plants.

Establishment; For this purpose, grant support in the amount of 2013 to 30 percent of the total investment cost, excluding parts such as construction works that cannot be evaluated within the scope, if the necessary criteria are met for Power EPC, cogeneration, trigeneration and renewable energy system projects undertaken by Japan-based companies in 30 countries since 50. can provide. The amount of donated resources can reach 14 million dollars per project. In this context, JCM continues its negotiations to evaluate possible projects in Turkey for grants and loans in 100, which is the 2024th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Japan.

Turkish government and JCM management; After completing the negotiations to provide grants for energy projects to be carried out by domestic companies in Turkey and abroad, if the agreement is realized, Turkish companies will be able to access significant financial support for their energy system investments that produce more carbon emissions.

Waiting for Turkey's membership to present a project

Yanmar Turkey, the full subsidiary of the Japanese production giant Yanmar, which was founded in 1912, has been operating in our country since 2016, and continues to implement energy systems projects that reduce carbon emissions. Yanmar Turkey has implemented power EPC energy systems, which are environmentally friendly and help reduce carbon footprint, in many projects, especially Istanbul Çam and Sakura City Hospital and Kütahya City Hospital. Yanmar Turkey is preparing to undertake larger energy projects together with Turkish companies if Turkey is added to the list of countries to which JCM provides grant opportunities.

On average, systems with a power of 5 MW and above are preferred.

Providing information about JCM's activities, Yanmar Turkey Energy Systems Business Line Director Yıldırım Vehbi Keskin said, "JCM's support of energy projects that reduce carbon footprint is of great importance for a sustainable future."

Noting that grant and loan applications have been made to JCM for some energy projects undertaken by Yanmar Turkey in Central Asia and North Africa, and that the application preparation process is continuing for some of them, Keskin said, “Since the Japanese organization JCM has fulfilled the necessary conditions for 233 projects so far, various projects have been implemented. provided large amounts of grant support. Thus, energy systems that produce less carbon emissions were put into operation. JCM is able to support cost-efficient projects with high efficiency and relatively low investment amounts compared to equivalent energy investments, such as cogeneration and trigeneration, which Yanmar Turkey has successfully commissioned, at a higher rate. "In general, the application rate of projects that reduce carbon footprint with less investment and have a power of 5MW and above is higher," he said.

Yanmar Turkey stands out with competitive offers

Touching on the focal points of the JCM grant application, Yanmar Turkey Energy Systems Business Line Director Yıldırım Vehbi Keskin said, “Application processes to JCM can be made several times during certain periods of the year and are completed at the end of the evaluation, which takes approximately 2-3 months. As Yanmar Turkey, in such energy projects that reduce carbon emissions, we first understand the demand very well from a technical perspective and then offer our offer competitively. "Then we continue our discussions with our customers who have made investment decisions, and then we implement our energy projects by putting forward the best solutions within the scope of JCM."
