GPH Wins 50 Years of Cruise Operation Rights at the Port of Liverpool!

Global Ports Holding Plc (GPH) signed a concession agreement for the operation of cruise operations at the Port of Liverpool for 50 years.

In the statement made by Global Investment Holding A.Ş. to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), the following information was given:

”GPH, our company's indirect subsidiary, has informed our company that it has signed a concession agreement with The Mersey Docks And Harbor Company Ltd, a subsidiary of Peel Ports Group, for the operation of cruise operations in the Port of Liverpool for 50 years. GPH is expected to take over port operations in April 2024. The city of Liverpool is one of the most visited cities in the United Kingdom and offers tourists important opportunities, especially music, architecture and watching historical football teams.

Liverpool Cruise Port is ideally located for the growing Northern Europe, British Isles and Ireland cruise markets, and the city is within an hour of two international airports. The port is well positioned to provide potential as a gateway to the Northern European and peri-British cruise markets for American and European passengers, as well as acting as a hub for the domestic market. Under the terms of the agreement, GPH will make a certain upfront payment and in certain cases annual payments will be required. Liverpool Cruise Port has significant growth potential in terms of passenger volume. GPH plans to invest up to £25 million to renew the existing port infrastructure, subject to obtaining the necessary permits and licenses. All stakeholders agree that this investment will unlock the true potential of the port. The said investment includes the addition of a new floating pier that will increase the capacity of the port, allowing two 300-meter ships to dock at the same time and hosting more than 7.000 passengers per day. This investment also includes the construction of a new port building that will enhance the passenger experience at the port and provide an ideal location for retail, food & beverage areas to serve cruise passengers, tourists and locals. In 2023, Liverpool Cruise Port hosted 102 cruise ships and over 186 thousand passengers. "This number is expected to exceed 2024 thousand in 200 and to exceed 300 thousand per year when the infrastructure works are completed."
