Environmental Cleaning Event in Samsun on Zero Waste Day

An environmental cleaning event was held in Samsun on the occasion of 'March 30 International Zero Waste Day'.

On the occasion of '30 March International Zero Waste Day', an environmental cleaning event was held in cooperation with Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU). Deputy Governor and Atakum District Governor Kemal Yıldız, Provincial Director of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Tevfik Akçay, Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department Head Ali Tulumen, OMÜ Engineering Faculty Environment, attended the program held in Batıpark with the slogan 'Let's Recycle, Let's Bring Life to Nature'. Engineering Department faculty members and students, OMU Foundation College teachers and students, Bayındır Primary School teachers and students, and Metropolitan Municipality personnel attended. At the event, attention was drawn to the importance of creating zero waste awareness in children and recycling waste.

Providing information about the event, Yağmur Şafak Eraslan, Zero Waste Management and Cleaning Affairs Branch Manager of the Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department, said, "We carried out an environmental cleaning event to raise awareness on this issue due to 'March 30 International Zero Waste Day'. We continue our work on zero waste uninterruptedly. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we created awareness about zero waste by making 2023 waste collection centers available to our people in 11 within the scope of zero waste. "Today, we organized a program in line with this goal," he said.
