The regulations of European countries regarding traveling between cities and between countries by rail instead of air are yielding results.
In Germany, 2023 million travelers traveled cross-border in 24. This corresponds to a 2019 percent increase compared to 21, according to German railway company Deutsche Bahn.
The number of seats also increased by 13 percent due to new connections and the use of longer trains.
Deutsche Bahn plans to expand international traffic. ICE 3 Neo is expected to be used for the European Football Championship on the Frankfurt-Brussels and Frankfurt-Amsterdam routes. State-of-the-art trains replace previous models, with DB getting a new ICE every three weeks, he says.
According to Deutsche Bahn, the new Railjet is planned to be deployed between Munich and Italy. Starting from the summer months, SBB high-speed train Giruno will be used for the first time on the Frankfurt-Zürich-Milan line. The gradual introduction of Czech Railways ČD's new Railjets is planned between Berlin and Prague from autumn. Trains with double the capacity will be used between Frankfurt and Paris, especially on days when demand is high.
There will also be direct trains from Frankfurt to Bordeaux on Saturdays in the summer, and to Stuttgart from mid-July.
