Bus Measure for Cancellation of Adana-Mersin Train Services

Following the decision to stop the train services operating between Mersin and Adana for 22 years as of April 2, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality took action to prevent citizens from being victimized and took precautions with increased services and newly opened lines.

The Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) canceled the train services between Adana and Mersin for 2 years due to the high standard railway line construction works. Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, which took action from the moment TCDD 6th Regional Directorate (Adana) notified the cancellation of train services in an official letter on Monday, April 15, took precautions in a short time.

Following the flight cancellations that will be implemented as of April 22, the Transportation Department took action, considering the citizens who travel by train. It increased the number of trips of line 141 operating between Mersin-Yenice and line 264 operating between Tarsus-Yenice. At the same time, the Metropolitan Municipality does not forget the university students and will start operating line 263, which starts from Tarsus Atatürk Street and provides transportation to Tarsus University and Çağ University, for the first time on April 22.

The suspension of train services will not stop the people of Mersin

Bayram Demir, Public Transportation Branch Manager of the Department of Transportation, stated that they took precautions as soon as possible to prevent citizens from being victimized due to the train services closed by the State Railways for 2 years, and said, “As soon as we learned, we tried to take the necessary measures as soon as possible. Our only goal is to ensure that our people do not experience any victimization in this regard. That's why we increased the number of trips of our Mersin-Arıklı line No. 141, which was previously operating on this route, from 10 to 18. "Thus, our line, which normally operates every 2 hours, will travel uninterruptedly from the Yenice region to Mersin for half an hour in the morning and every hour in the afternoon," he said.

In order to minimize victimization, flights were increased and new lines were opened.

Stating that they also met with local companies serving the destination, Demir said, "We enabled four different local companies to increase the frequency of their flights and revise their routes." Stating that they have increased the services of line 264, which operates not only to Mersin center but also between Yenice and Tarsus, Demir said, “This line departs from Üzümlü junction and goes to Cleopatra Gate, Makam, Demir Kapı and Yenice. "We increased the number of daily flights from 10 to 23 with the reinforcement," he said.

New lines opened to Tarsus

Demir, who announced that they opened a new line in addition to increasing the number of flights, explained the details of the opened line No. 263 as follows:

“Our line number 263, which we will put into operation for the first time in Tarsus, is named Tarsus University-Atatürk Park-Çağ University. This line of 2 vehicles will operate 10-12 times a day. Thus, we will transport students from the center of Tarsus to Çağ University for the first time. "We will provide transportation for our citizens living in the neighborhoods between the two universities and between these lines."

Reminding that citizens can follow all these flights through the Teksin application, Demir said; He stated that information about departure times, fare schedules and departure times is also included. Demir also noted that this information can be accessed at ulasim.mersin.bel.tr.

Stating that they are doing the necessary work to prevent passengers coming from Adana to Mersin from being victimized, Demir said, “Meetings are continuing with both Adana Metropolitan Municipality and the General Directorate of Highways. "As Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, we strive to help our people with public transportation services at all times," he said.
