Thousands of People Marched for Autism in Izmir

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. participated in the 2nd Izmir Autism March organized by KEDİ Autism Association to draw attention to the problems of individuals with autism. Cemil Tugay stated that they will work with district municipalities to raise awareness about autism and find solutions to problems.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay participated in the 2nd Izmir Autism March organized by KEDİ Autism Association (Acceptance, Equality, Inclusion, Employment) in order to draw attention to the problems experienced by individuals with autism. Konak Mayor Nilüfer Çınarlı Mutlu joined the march, which started in Alsancak Gündoğdu Square. Bayraklı Mayor İrfan Önal, individuals with autism and their families attended. In the program, citizens carried banners with the words "Autistic people can also work, employ them", "Differences are the color of life", "I want you to understand me", "Autism is looking at life from a different perspective", "Give me the right to praise me" to draw attention to the problems they face.

“We are ready to do our part”

The awareness walk ended in front of Türkan Saylan Culture and Art Center located on Alsancak Kıbrıs Şehitleri Street. Speaking here, Mayor Cemil Tugay said that they will implement the necessary work for special children. Tugay said, “We want to win these children. We are ready to do our part for this. I love kids so much. You are all very valuable to me. People with autism can be adapted to society by receiving education. They stay locked in their homes. This is a great injustice. We will do our best to include them in production. I will work actively on this path. "I want all individuals in our society to be aware of this issue," he said.

“We want to see our children in urban life”

Drawing attention to the importance of designing Izmir with autism individuals in mind, Cemil Tugay said, “The whole society needs to be aware of special individuals, work with us and take action to solve the problems they face. This is an issue that should not be underestimated. We will work with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and district municipalities to raise awareness about autism and produce solutions to problems. We want to see them in urban life. Our children are very clean, very pure. We love them. "We will do our part for this," he said.

Serap Dikmen Ahmetoğlu, President of the Cat Autism Association, also thanked the mayors who participated in the event and said: “Your being here today has caused us to start the new era with hope. I thank you for the hope you give us. There are many studies that municipalities can do within their means. Being able to work together is very important. “By acting together with non-governmental organizations, we can implement many good works.”

Special children gave a concert

Families of children with autism also expressed their concerns about their children. He wanted his children to participate in employment and to support their development in sports, arts and education. The program ended with a mini concert given by individuals with autism. The participants sang the song "We will see good days, children" together, and Mayor Tugay accompanied the songs.
