No Electricity from Dicle Electricity to Farmers Who Do Not Pay Their Debts!

Just a few days before the start of the agricultural irrigation period, Dicle Elektrik called out to its subscribers who will use electrical power for agricultural irrigation. The company reminded that agricultural irrigation subscribers who refuse to pay their past debts will not be provided with electricity in 2024. The distribution company pointed out that agricultural irrigation subscribers, who use one-third of the total electricity in the region, have not paid their debts approaching 3 billion TL. While Dicle Electricity is taking precautions to ensure that subscribers who pay their debts are not affected by the cutting operations, it also announced that it has supplied 27 generators in the first stage to be distributed to farmers who have paid their debts.

Dicle Electricity warned its agricultural irrigation subscribers, who use approximately one-third of the total annual consumption of 23 billion kWh in the distribution region and whose unpaid debts are approaching 3 billion TL, for the last time before the irrigation season begins. In the statement made by Dicle Electricity, "In order to protect the rights of our subscribers who pay their debts on time, our agricultural irrigation subscribers, who have resisted paying their debts until today despite all the opportunities offered in good faith, will definitely not be provided with electricity this year." statements were included. The distribution company reiterated the statement it made last year and reminded that necessary measures will be taken to ensure energy supply security and protect the rights of subscribers who pay their debts regularly.

A total of 25 thousand farmers in Şanlıurfa and Mardin, who owe 18 billion TL, will not be provided with electricity!

Making a statement regarding the electricity debts arising from agricultural irrigation in the region, Dicle Electricity officials mentioned the following in the statement: "The collection problem in the field of agricultural irrigation, which has been ongoing since 2013 when privatization took place, is increasing day by day. The electricity debts of all our farmers who did not pay, especially our farmers from Şanlıurfa and Mardin, reached 27 billion TL in total. 25 billion TL of this figure comes from the unpaid debts of our agricultural irrigation subscribers in these two provinces. 13 thousand subscribers in Şanlıurfa have a debt of 15.5 billion TL, and 5.000 subscribers in Mardin have a debt of 9.5 billion TL due to agricultural irrigation. "The electricity debt of agricultural irrigation subscribers in the regional provinces of Diyarbakır, Batman, Şırnak and Siirt has approached 2 billion TL." said.

Southeast uses half of Türkiye's total

Reminding that approximately 3 thousand agricultural irrigation subscribers, who use one third of the total electricity consumption in the region, are in debt, officials reiterated that excessive electricity consumption endangers energy supply security and quality energy distribution. In the statement, which stated that excessive electricity consumption constitutes half of Turkey's total, "About 20 thousand of the 140 thousand farmers registered in our distribution region are engaged in irrigated agriculture. While there are 65 million decares of irrigated agricultural land in the region, 9.8 percent of the total irrigation is carried out with motor pumps that consume excessive energy. "This consumption corresponds to half of the total consumption of electricity used in agricultural areas throughout Türkiye." His statements were included.

Facilities provided for payment were ignored

Recalling the support provided so far in the payment of debts, officials said, “The opportunities offered by our state and the support of our company for many of our citizens who owe debts from our agricultural farmers were not reciprocated. Although many opportunities were created, such as interest-free and 5-year repayment-free loan support, ease of payment at the end of the harvest, no late payment fee on the debt, individual structuring of the debt, ease of switching to a three-time tariff, unfortunately the vast majority of farmers who continued their agricultural activities did not pay their debts. ” said.

Ministry support and opportunities have ended

The 6-year support implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for indebted agricultural irrigation subscribers in the Dicle Electricity distribution region ended at the end of 2023. Again, December 31, 2023, the deadline given by Dicle Elektrik to subscribers to pay their debts by taking advantage of the opportunities offered to them, has passed. Reminding that a difficult year awaits subscribers who do not pay their debts in 2024, officials made a clear statement that "energy will not be provided to indebted irrigation subscribers this year." The company also announced that electricity will not be provided to subscribers whose security deposit is insufficient, especially to Irrigation associations affiliated with DSI.

In the first phase, 1000 generators were supplied to farmers who paid their debts.

The company, which achieves quality energy average above Turkey's standard in city centers, also makes important investments for rural and agricultural irrigation subscribers. The company, which will realize an investment of more than 10 billion TL this year, also carries out community-oriented activities. Dicle Electricity, which took precautions against subscribers who paid their debts on time, supplied a thousand generators with a power of 25 to 825 kVA in the first stage. Moreover, transportation and fuel will be covered by Dicle Electric company.
