The Future of the Railways Sector Was Discussed in Ashgabat

The 38th Meeting of General Managers of Railways of the member countries of the Organization for Inter-Railway Cooperation (OSJD) was held in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

Senior executives from 30 member countries of the organization attended the meeting hosted by the Ministry of Transport of Turkmenistan.

At the meeting held to coordinate railway transportation at the intergovernmental level, views were exchanged on the development of transit corridors and increasing freight and passenger transportation in the region. It was stated that Turkmenistan is an important transit route in the transportation of goods from Europe to Asia and in the north-south transportation corridor.

In his message to the participants, Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the ongoing investments in the field of transportation in the heart of the silk road and celebrated the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's membership in the organization.

At the end of the meeting, a series of documents were signed between OSJD member countries to further develop cooperation in the field of railway transportation.
