The wildlife and vegetation in the Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, located in Samsun and on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, became more lively with the arrival of spring. Approximately 7 people visited the delta, which turned white with water daisies, during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

With the arrival of spring, a visual feast is experienced in the Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, one of the most important wetlands of Turkey. Postcard-worthy images were created in the delta covered with water daisies and colorful flowers. The delta, which was visited by approximately 2023 thousand people in 100, hosted approximately 7 visitors during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. In the delta, which attracts local and foreign tourists, the density doubles, especially on weekends.

HUMAN INTERVENTION IN NATURAL LIFE HAS BEEN MINIMIZED

Located on the borders of Samsun's 19 Mayıs, Bafra and Alaçam districts, with an area of ​​56 thousand hectares, Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary is one of the most important points where wildlife is protected in Turkey. On April 13, 2016, human intervention in natural life was minimized with the practices carried out by Samsun Metropolitan Municipality in the Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, which was included in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Tentative List.

2023 THOUSAND PEOPLE VISITED IN 100

Visitors to the Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, where positive feedback has been rapidly received from Samsun Metropolitan Municipality's conservation efforts, can only visit the delta with bicycles, electric bicycles and battery-powered vehicles. In this context, it was stated that approximately 2023 thousand people visited the delta in 100.

With the measures implemented, the number of birds and other wild animals in the delta increases every year, and migratory birds can be observed intensively in the delta.

We want more people in our country and abroad to see and be informed about this special area where wildlife is protected and all measures are implemented in this context. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we strive to provide the best service to our guests as well as to ensure the protection of the natural wonder region. The region, which attracts great attention from bird watchers, photographers and nature enthusiasts, has a lush green and colorful appearance, especially in spring. "I invite my dear fellow citizens and local and foreign tourists coming to our city from outside the province to visit the Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary," he said.

HOST 365 SEPARATE SPECIES

Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, hosts 24 of the 15 bird species in danger of extinction and 500 of the 365 bird species seen in the country, with its habitat diversity and fauna-rich population. The delta, where 140 species of birds breed, is on the route of more than 7 million migratory birds every year. It hosts thousands of storks, especially in the spring season.
