At the 2024 World Tunnel Conference held today in Shenzhen, China's Guangdong province, it was announced that the total length of railway and road tunnels in China exceeded 50 thousand kilometers. Thus, China became the country with the most tunnels in the world. In addition, the length of the tunnels built for metros reached 8 thousand 543 kilometers.
Experts and representatives of relevant businesses from International Tunnel and Underground Structures Association (ITA) member countries such as England, Germany, USA and Canada attended the conference, which was held again in China after 34 years.
