Neighborhood Kitchens Reduce Citizens' Kitchen Expenses

The service, which was implemented in July 2020 within the Department of Social Services and expanded in a short time, continues to receive full marks from citizens. Within the scope of the application launched for citizens who have financial difficulties and cannot cook, and especially for university students, Neighborhood Kitchens are activated at 48 points and 3 types of hot meals can be delivered to the homes of Mersin residents in need for 10 TL.

Yasemin Özbek, who works as a Social Service Specialist in the Department of Social Services, stated that they delivered 2020 types of meals to those in need for a symbolic fee of 4 TL in the neighborhood kitchens that they started as Mersin Metropolitan Municipality in July 48 and were established at 10 points in approximately 3 years. “Since the day the project was implemented, a total of 2,5 million meals have been delivered to our citizens in need.” He said that they continue their services with satisfaction.

Mükerrem Torun, one of the citizens who benefited from Neighborhood Kitchens and stated that the food was very delicious, said, “There are people who cook at home, and there are those who cannot. Neighborhood Kitchens produces very good food, we are pleased. We want it to be placed in every neighborhood. I buy food from here for 30 lira, it feeds 3-4 people. He thanked Mayor Vahap Seçer and his team for the service he provided, saying, "You cannot buy a kilo of tomatoes for 30 liras in this period."

Şahika Gözükızıl stated that she found the food beautiful and delicious. “As a disabled person, I am very pleased with such services” Murat Gezer stated that thanks to this project, there was a decrease in kitchen costs. “When we look at our living conditions, sometimes cooking at home shakes our budget. We thank Vahap Seçer very much.
