Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Takes Care of Stray Animals

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Department of Natural Life Conservation, which carries out work that respects the right to life of all living creatures living in nature, continues its activities that touch the lives of all living creatures, especially stray animals. On the occasion of April 4th World Stray Animals Day, Metropolitan Municipality Wildlife Protection Department Head Celal Özsoyler pointed out that as an institution, all nature is the common living space of people, and said that the lives of stray animals should be respected and opportunities should be provided.

Özsoyler stated that as the Metropolitan Municipality, they continued the operation of the existing shelter and established a new shelter on an area of ​​15 thousand square meters in Burç Yazıbağ, including modern operating rooms, a food production center and shelters with bottom heating, and added that this Nature Park was established on an area of ​​60 thousand square meters as a rehabilitation area for stray animals. He said that the natural habitat is constantly working. Here, there are dogs that cannot keep up with urban life and are likely to be harmed by other animals.

GAIZANTEP METROPOLITAN PRODUCES THE FOOD PUT AT 250 FEEDING POINTS

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality itself produces the food that is placed in the feeding points it has established from waste pipes at 250 different points in the city center. In the project initiated within the scope of Zero Waste work, teams separate the food waste coming from city hospitals, universities, factories and restaurants and turn it into food with high protein value in compost machines, dry it and distribute it to feeding points and animal lovers. The waste of the gastronomy city is evaluated in the study that has been going on for 2 years.

1800 STREET ANIMALS ARE TREATED A YEAR

The Metropolitan Municipality, which undertakes the treatment of 800 stray animals a year, leaves places where it takes stray animals after the treatment process. Teams working 7/24 continue to serve in 9 neighborhoods of 780 districts of Gazi city.
