Şanlıurfa Provincial Election Board decided to renew the elections after the results in Siverek district of the March 31 local elections were evaluated upon the objection of the Re-Welfare Party.
The Re-Welfare Party's objection to the election results in the district was subjected to a detailed examination process by the Şanlıurfa Provincial Election Board. With the decision taken after the process, it was decided to re-hold the elections in Siverek district.
AK Party Şanlıurfa Provincial Election Affairs Chairman and Provincial Deputy Chairman Atty. Mehmet Kırboğa, in his statement on the subject, said, "The only thing that has been canceled is the mayoral election, only the election for the mayor, and the election of council members will not be held on June 2." he said.
