The opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, which convened in Ankara on April 23, 1920, at a time when despair, poverty, and difficult and troubled days were experienced, was a turning point for our bright future.
Thousands of unnamed heroes paid the price of this land, where a martyr lies in every inch, by giving their lives. Indeed, when considered within the conditions of the time, our War of Independence is the epic of independence of a nation that was thought to have vanished.
