Minister Göktaş is at New York Turkevi

Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş met with Turkish citizens at the Turkish House in New York, where she came for the UN Commission on the Status of Women Meetings.

Göktaş, who started the program by conveying the greetings of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said, "Today, there is the warmth, love and affection of Anatolia here, but there is also homesickness." Stating that he is among the people who know very well what being abroad means, Göktaş said, “The doors of our embassies are wide open to our citizens, they can express their demands clearly, and they can reach our ambassadors and consulate general whenever they call. "You may feel like you are abroad from time to time, but you always have a state that is with you and a country that stands behind you," he said.

Stating that they closely follow the sensitivities of the citizens, Göktaş said, “We established family attaché offices in 2015 and started to provide services. We plan to open it in some European countries and the USA in the coming period. "Through our family attachés, we share with our citizens both the family policies in our country and all the sensitivities that come with being a social state." he said.

Emphasizing the importance of the stance of the citizens of those countries against threats against Turkey abroad, Minister Göktaş said, “The bonding of our citizens living here with the bond of brotherhood will make our country even stronger. Our union will defend our freedom and independence against all organizations and structures that aim at Turkey. Our unity will be the voice of our nation in our country's just cause against these structures. In this sense, I would like to express my gratitude to all our organizations and schools that serve and support our citizens living abroad.” said.

Turkey's Consul General in New York, Reyhan Özgür, stated that they were pleased to host the Minister of Family and Social Services Göktaş and his accompanying delegation at the Türkevi.

Pointing out the importance of Minister Göktaş's contacts in the USA, Özgür also gave information about the studies and projects carried out by Turkish diplomatic missions in the USA that can contribute to the development of women. Özgür thanked the authorities of the Ministry of Family and Social Services and other relevant institutions for their contributions at this point.

“A REAL TURKISH HOUSE”

Sedat Önal, who recently started his duty as Turkey's Ambassador to Washington, also stated that the meetings attended by Minister Göktaş and his delegation at the UN were very important. Önal said that the Turkish House is a valuable meeting place for all Turks in the USA and, as its name indicates, He emphasized that it was truly a "Turkish house". Önal added that activities for women will continue this week at the Turkish House.

In addition to Turkish citizens, Turkish Grand National Assembly's Equal Opportunities Commission for Women and Men (KEFEK) Chairman and AK Party Sakarya Deputy Çiğdem Erdoğan and KEFEK Deputy Chairman and AK Party Antalya Deputy Tuba Vural Çokal also attended the meeting.
