Kartepe Cable Car Will Be Free Between 25 March and 15 April

At the meeting where the first rides of the cable car line were held, Metropolitan Mayor Tahir Büyükakın stated that the line will be opened to public use on March 25 and will be free until April 15.

The Introduction of Kartepe Cable Car Line, which will support Kocaeli and Kartepe in terms of tourism and bring a new breath to our city, was held with the participation of Governor Seddar Yavuz.

This project, which will make a significant contribution to the tourism potential of Kocaeli and Kartepe, was carried out by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and has the distinction of being Turkey's most environmentally friendly cable car line.

In addition to Governor Seddar Yavuz, Kocaeli Members of Parliament; Prof. Dr. Sadettin Hülagü, Radiye Sezer Katırcıoğlu, Veysal Tipioğlu, Cemil Yaman, Sami Çakır, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Assoc. Dr. Tahir Büyükakın, former Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor İbrahim Karaosmanoğlu, Kartepe Mayor Muhammet Mustafa Kocaman, political party representatives, guests and press members attended.

Kartepe Cable Car Line Promotion Program Meeting; Starting with the speech of Fatih Gürel, Head of the Rail System Department, who gave information about the technical features, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Assoc. Dr. He continued with Tahir Büyükakın's speech in which he evaluated the stages of the project and its contributions to our city.

Kocaeli Deputy Prof. Dr. After Sadettin Hülagü's speech regarding the importance of the project, Governor Seddar Yavuz made a speech expressing his satisfaction for being blessed with such an important project and wished him good luck.

Governor Seddar Yavuz: “As the Governor of this city, I share with you the joy and happiness I feel that such a proud project, which could not be imagined and realized for many years, has been realized today. As you all know, we define Kocaeli as a city of science, industry, technology and innovation, but on the other hand, it should also be included in our definitions as a city of culture and tourism.” said.

Governor Yavuz, who shared the 2023 overnight stay data in Kocaeli; “In 2023, 2 million 300 thousand overnight stays took place in our Kocaeli province. 400 thousand of these are foreigners. Therefore, with this project, I hope we will see the days when flocks of local and foreign tourists flock here in the coming years. I would like to thank and sincerely congratulate our esteemed Metropolitan Mayor Tahir Büyükakın, with whom we have been working for four years, his valuable team, and everyone who contributed to and supported this project.” He concluded his words by wishing to meet again in such distinguished and big projects.

After the meeting, we went to the cable car boarding area for a test drive. Governor Seddar Yavuz and the accompanying protocol members went up to Kuzuyayla by cable car together with the press members.

Following the cable car ride experience, the promotional program ended with a group photo.

The cable car line, which has a carrying capacity of 500 people per hour, consists of 10 cabins for 72 people each, and will operate at a distance of 4 meters, is planned to be put into use on March 695, 25.

Kartepe Cable Car Line, which is the cable car line with the highest masts in Turkey, will reach the top of the Samanlı Mountains and will provide citizens with the opportunity to watch Izmit Bay and Sapanca Lake.
