Approval from the Ministry for Karabağlar Gaziemir Metro Line

There is good news for the people of Izmir! Approval was given by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change to build a new metro line in Izmir. This new line will connect Karabağlar and Gaziemir districts and will make a significant contribution to the transportation of the city.

Approval was given by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change for the new metro line coming to Izmir. With this development, which concerns the citizens of Izmir, we are one step closer to the new metro line. The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change announced the decision that Environmental Impact Assessment is Not Required for the new metro line to be opened in Izmir. This decision includes the new metro line to be built between Karabağlar and Gaziemir.

Making statements about the new metro line to be built between Karabağlar and Gaziemir in İzmir, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change made the following statements:

“İzmir Province; Prepared for the "Izmir Light Rail System 6th Stage Karabağlar-Gaziemir Line (24,5 km long Menderes-General Asım Gündüz-Konak Line)" project of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Rail System Department in Menderes, Gaziemir, Karabağlar and Konak Districts. and the project introduction file submitted to our Directorate was examined and evaluated and in accordance with Article 29.07.2022 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulation published in the Official Gazette dated 31907 and numbered 17 for the project in question, dated 20/03/2024 and numbered E-202474. With the document, it was decided that "Environmental Impact Assessment is Not Required".
