USA's Largest Trade Event is in Istanbul This Year

The 60th Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of AmCham Turkey (American Business Association), which represents 100 US companies that have investments of over 135 billion dollars in Turkey and employ 20 thousand people, was held in Istanbul on March 5, 2024.

Expectations and targets for 2024 were discussed at the meeting, where US Deputy Undersecretary of Commerce Neema Singh Guliani, US Consul General in Istanbul Julie Eadeh, Vice President of the Presidential Investment Office Bekir Polat and Turkey's former Ambassador to Washington Murat Mercan attended as guests of honor.

US-Türkiye ECONOMIC RELATIONS CONTINUE THEIR POSITIVE COURSE

Making the opening speech of the General Assembly AmCham Türkiye Chairman of the Board of Directors Tankut TurnaoğluHe underlined that 2023 continues to reveal its potential in bilateral economic and commercial relations between Turkey and the USA. Turnaoğlu said, “While Turkey's bilateral trade volume with the USA will reach 2023 billion dollars in 30,6; The USA is Turkey's second largest export market and fifth largest import market. As Turkey and the USA commercial relations approach their 200th anniversary, as AmCham Turkey, we represent 20 US member companies operating in Turkey in the 60th anniversary of our establishment, creating an investment of 100 billion dollars and employment for 135 thousand people.” said. Emphasizing that there is a much stronger potential that can be realized in bilateral economic and commercial relations, Turnaoğlu said, “As AmCham, we continue to work determinedly towards our goal of becoming the power that carries Turkey to global markets by increasing investment and trade between the two countries. The fact that 2023 of the 126 direct investment projects coming to Turkey in 16 were American investment projects took the USA to the first year last year.
