Shipments for Export Purposes Increased by 34,6 Percent

Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that the growth in maritime transportation is especially dominated by export cargoes, and explained that the amount of loading for export purposes carried out in our ports in February 2024 increased by 34,6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 12 million 49 thousand 294 tons. Uraloğlu said, “Our unloading amount for import purposes increased by 11,6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 20 million 744 thousand 969 tons. In container handling, there was an increase of 26,6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and 840 thousand 499 TEU containers were handled. "Container loadings for export purposes at our ports in February increased by 31,4 percent to 434 thousand 471 TEU, and container unloadings for import purposes increased by 21,8 percent to 406 thousand 28 TEU," he said.

The Quantity of Transit Containers Doubled

Minister Uraloğlu said that the amount of transit containers handled in our ports more than doubled in February compared to the same month of the previous year. Uraloğlu underlined that the amount of transit containers increased by 109,3 percent, reaching 267 thousand 207 TEU, and the amount of containers handled in cabotage increased by 21,9 percent, reaching 59 thousand 503 TEU. Announcing that the total transit cargo handled in our ports in February increased by 5,7 percent to 5 million 962 thousand 868 tons, Uraloğlu stated that the amount of cargo carried in cabotage increased by 5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, with 96 million 854 thousand 6,2 tons.

The Most Cargo Was Handled in Aliağa

Uraloğlu announced that the most cargo handling in February was done in Aliağa.
