Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Uraloğlu stated that they created Turkey's domestic and national railway industry with their investments and announced that TÜRASAŞ Bogie factory is Turkey's most modern and largest capacity bogie production factory. Stating that the bogies needed by the railways will be supplied from Sivas, Uraloğlu said, "In addition, we will produce UAIS Type Military Vehicle Transport wagon and Truck Trailer Transport wagon in TÜRASAŞ Sivas."
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Türkiye Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc. (TÜRASAŞ) opened the Bogie Factory. Explaining that they aim to develop the domestic railway industry equipped with new technologies while developing the railway transportation network, Uraloğlu said, “Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said during a visit to Sivas in 2019, 'We will expand TÜRASAŞ out of spite.' "We followed his promise and will bring a factory to TÜRASAŞ Sivas Regional Directorate for the first time in 74 years and open the TÜRASAŞ Bogie factory," he said.
TÜRASAŞ has become one of the largest manufacturers in the Middle East
Uraloğlu said that they did not leave the railway vehicles and industry behind in production and noted that they prioritized locality and nationality issues in all the projects they implemented as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Uraloğlu said, “While developing our railway transportation network in our country, another goal was to follow the developments in the world and develop the domestic railway industry equipped with new technologies. At this point, we have crowned all the successes in the development of our railway network with our domestic and national railway industry, which developed in the same period. We turned TÜRASAŞ into one of the largest rail system vehicle manufacturers in the Middle East. "In our process so far, we have been producing main, critical and sub-products ourselves, such as new generation locomotives, diesel and electric train sets, passenger wagons, freight wagons, Traction converter, Traction engine, diesel engine, Train Control Management System, at international standards," he said. Uraloğlu reminded that they put the first national electric train sets into service in 100, the 2023th anniversary of the republic, and underlined that they also put local and national driverless metro vehicles, produced with a 70 percent local production rate, on the rails.
“All Bogies Used in Our Railways Will Be Produced in Sivas”
Uraloğlu said that the opening of TÜRASAŞ Bogie Factory for bogie production, which is the most important component of railway vehicles, is a huge step for the development of the railway industry and said, “We have built the most modern and largest capacity bogie production factory of our country in Sivas. We will produce at European standards in our new factory in a closed area of 10 thousand 500 square meters. We have now increased the annual production capacity from 1500 units to 4 units. We will produce 600 thousand 9 wheel sets annually. "We will increase the localization rate by reducing the external dependence of the sector," he said. Emphasizing that the bogies needed for all kinds of vehicles used in freight and passenger transportation by rail will be produced in this factory, Uraloğlu said that the bogie production factory will make a significant contribution to the country's economy, especially the economy of Sivas. Uraloğlu announced that 200 of the 250 new personnel to be employed in the factory have already started work, and that the other personnel will start working as soon as possible. Uraloğlu also underlined that the number of personnel will increase to 110.
Two More Good News for Sivas
Minister Uraloğlu stated that they have two new projects included in the 2024 Presidential Investment Program. Noting that the two projects in question are UAIS Type Military Vehicle Transport wagon and Truck Trailer Transport wagon, Uraloğlu said, “We have another good news for you. UAIS Type Military Vehicle Transport wagon and Truck Trailer Transport wagon production will be carried out in our TÜRASAŞ Sivas Regional Directorate. "I wholeheartedly believe that under the TÜRASAŞ brand value, Sivas Regional Directorate will become the shining star of the railway industry with Freight Wagon production, repair, bogie and wheel production by increasing its capacity and business diversity every year," he said.
