Solar Energy Revolution from Amasya: Young People Enlighten the World!

Amasya Şehit Gültekin Tırpan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School came second in the world with their project titled "Increasing the Efficiency of Solar Panels" in the online International Youth Science Competition.

In the International Youth Science Competition held in Indonesia, where 16 projects from 305 countries were invited, Amasya Şehit Gültekin Tırpan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School students Tunahan Akın, İbrahim Arda Karataşoğlu, Mustafa Yahya Yücel and consultant teacher Serkan Kaya came in second with their projects that increase solar panel efficiency. was awarded the silver medal.

School Principal Niyazi Şişik said, “I would like to thank my friends and students who work regardless of time. It is a great success for both our country and our city. Hopefully there will be more to come. Our goal is now to become world champion. Hopefully, we are trying to work in that direction.” said.

Advisor teacher Serkan Kaya stated that they were very happy and said, “Our project was designed to increase the efficiency of solar panels. Normally, sensors that detect the sun are used to ensure that the sunlight reaches the panel perpendicularly. Our students were also influenced by Alper Gezeravcı and tried to turn to the sun without using sensors by making astronomical calculations, and by using astronomical data and mathematical calculations, they successfully turned to the sun, especially at the time of every day in Amasya.” he said.
